Free domain registration lookup

Free RDAP domain lookup.
Modern WHOIS, clearly explained.

Enter a domain to read its authoritative registration record in plain English—the modern replacement for a WHOIS lookup. Check the registrar, registration and expiry dates, status codes, nameservers and the registry-published DNSSEC signal.

01

Authoritative

Results come from the registry responsible for each domain ending.

02

Structured

RDAP uses consistent JSON data instead of free-form WHOIS text.

03

Privacy aware

Redacted contact fields stay redacted and are clearly identified.

Free RDAP and WHOIS lookup

What can a domain registration lookup tell you?

Domain Readout queries the responsible registry's RDAP service and translates the returned record into a readable summary. RDAP is the standards-based successor to legacy WHOIS: it uses HTTPS, structured data and a consistent way to discover the authoritative source.

Registration dates and registrar

See when the domain was registered, when the record last changed, its published expiry date and the sponsoring registrar. An expiry date is a lifecycle signal, not a guarantee that the name will become available on that day.

Status, nameservers and DNSSEC

Translate EPP status codes such as clientTransferProhibited, view nameservers published in the registration record, and check whether the registry reports secure delegation. This is not a full live DNS or DNSSEC validation test.

Public contacts and redaction

Registries and registrars often hide personal contact details for privacy and policy reasons. Domain Readout shows what the source publishes and never tries to reconstruct redacted data. The registrant, registrar and website operator may be different parties.

Why WHOIS data is redacted →
No record does not always mean available.

A name can be reserved, unsupported by public RDAP, premium-priced or unavailable at a particular registrar. Use registrar checkout as the final availability check. For UK names, read our .uk and .co.uk lookup guide.

Coverage

Live service discovery

One lookup, thousands of domain endings.

Domain Readout uses the current IANA bootstrap registry to find the right authoritative service for major global domains, newer generic endings and supported country-code domains.
